EMG 2008 - Newsletter February 2008

Dear Masters Sports Friend - Welcome to the February edition of the newsletter!

Sweden's minister for Sport and Culture shows her support for EMG 2008
"International sporting events mean a lot for Sweden. In particular, I'm happy to note the creative aspects of the European Masters Games. And I'm proud that the première is in Sweden and in Malmö, which is our southern gateway to the European continent." says Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, Sweden's minister for culture and sport. Don't miss out on the early bird!
The tempo is really accelerating all over! We have seen a significant raise in both registrations and in web activity. We also see lots of nationalities in the registration system (more than 35 different countries today) which is fantastic news. We were always a little worried that EMG 2008 would mainly be visited by participants from the nordic countries and nearby European countries. Naturally, these countries will be more represented than others but already now we can promise some truly European Masters games!

Please note that the first of March is getting close fast and that the end of the early bird treat ends by this date. The treat is a quality Costa Boda glass memorial medal designed by one of Sweden's most loved glass artists. Go to registrations now >>

More interesting profiles gather at EMG 2008
Henrik Gaddefors, 42, was the captain of the Swedish basketball national team during the 90ies and he still got the passion for the game. He is now forming a new team - targeting EMG 2008! Full article >>

No need to be elite

We are naturally very happy to see former world famous elite taking an interest in EMG 2008, however - those who are passionate, come to participate, meet friends and have a good time will always be the ones who represent the character of a true European Masters! Eric Dumas is a great example: "I am a lifesaver and since 2002 I participated in 3 World and 2 European Championships. I enjoyed participating in those events because of the sport and the people you meet. At the EMG 2008 you can also visit others sports and learn more about them, so I have to be part of it."
